Houlihan Lokey is pleased to announce that Deutsche Beteiligungs AG (DBAG) (ETR:DBAN) has completed the sale of Broetje-Automation GmbH (Broetje), one of the world's leading manufacturers of automation technology for the global aerospace industry, to Shanghai Electric Group Company Limited (SEHK:2727).
Broetje designs and manufactures complete robotic systems for the automated production of aircrafts in the aerospace industry. The company is one of the leading experts worldwide for production processes in this industry, and its clients encompass nearly all notable aircraft manufacturers. Broetje's expertise includes riveting machines and lines used to automatically rivet, join, and assemble large aircraft components made of metal or carbon fiber, such as fuselage, wings, and cockpit. Broetje has made significant progress over DBAG’s four-year ownership period and has more than doubled its revenue. Furthermore, Broetje's core technical skills also have transferability to the overall industrial marketplace, something that Shanghai Electric has considered, as well.
DBAG is a leading German private equity company focusing on buyouts of mid-sized enterprises in Germany and neighbouring countries. Total assets under management amount to approximately €1.8 billion (as of August 2016) with an investment team that is experienced across a broad range of sectors and economic cycles. Since its foundation, DBAG and its co-investment funds have invested in more than 300 mid-sized companies, most of which operate in traditional sectors of German industry.
The sale of Broetje highlights our industry expertise and global reach in industrials, and track record of providing value-added advisory services to private equity firms. This is Houlihan Lokey's third successful transaction on behalf of DBAG over the past three years, including other sellside and buyside projects. Here, Houlihan Lokey served as M&A advisor to DBAG and assisted in structuring and negotiating the transaction on its behalf.
