Mr. Miller is
a Senior Managing Director and was a member of Houlihan Lokey’s Board of
Directors prior to the firm’s IPO in August 2015. With more than two decades of
experience at the firm, he has designed, implemented, and managed some of
Houlihan Lokey’s key strategic initiatives, including the firm’s entry into distressed
M&A, capital markets, and management consulting. Mr. Miller is based in the
firm’s Los Angeles office.
On behalf of
his clients, Mr. Miller has executed hundreds of mergers and acquisitions and
financing transactions in a multitude of industries, including some of the most
notable transactions in the firm’s history. He founded Houlihan Lokey’s Special
Situations practice. He founded the American Bankruptcy Institute’s Committee
on Investment Banking and Corporate Finance and has headed the Committee’s
annual Dealmakers’ Conference. He has been ranked by The Deal as one of
the most active special situation investment bankers, and he was the youngest
person named to the Los Angeles Business Journal’s Who’s Who of Banking
& Finance Turnaround Specialists.
Mr. Miller is
a respected public speaker and lectures at top law and business schools across
the nation. He has also written two books—Buying and Selling the
Distressed Company and Advising the Distressed Company—which have
been used to educate many of the industry’s key participants.
In 2014, Mr.
Miller architected and managed the launch of Houlihan Lokey’s Strategic
Consulting business through the acquisition of Bridge Strategy Group, making Houlihan
Lokey the first global investment bank to offer premium management consulting
services to its clients.
joining Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Miller was a management consultant with Bain &
holds a B.S. in Business Administration, with highest honors, from the
University of California at Berkeley, an MBA from the University of Chicago
School of Business, and a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School.
