Altman is a Managing Director in Houlihan Lokey’s Real Estate Strategic Advisory Group. He
specializes in M&A advisory, capital-raising, and other strategic advisory
assignments for public and private real estate and lodging companies, lenders,
and investors. Mr. Altman is based in the firm’s New York office.
Altman has advised on over $50 billion of real estate, lodging, and leisure
transactions throughout his career at Houlihan Lokey and previously at Lazard,
where he was a senior member of its Real Estate & Lodging Investment
Banking Group for 12 years.
recently, Mr. Altman advised on the announced sale of Intrawest Resorts
Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:SNOW)
$1.5 billion to affiliates of the Aspen Ski Company and KSL Capital Partners.
Since joining Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Altman has also advised on notable
transactions including the sale of EVOQ Properties, Inc., to an investor group
led by Atlas Capital Group, LLC, Square Mile Capital Management, LLC, and USAA
Real Estate Co. He also advised the owners on the recapitalization and
development of Canyons Ski Resort; advised an ad hoc mezzanine lender group as
part of the $1.8 billion recapitalization of LXR Hospitality; advised the
principals of Camelback ski resort on the sale lease-back of their resort and
the capital raise for an adjacent 500-room hotel and water park; and is
currently working on multiple corporate and portfolio transactions in the resort,
retail, office, and land development sectors. In addition, Mr. Altman has
advised Extended Stay Hotel on its 2011 sale and its recent IPO, as well as
Highland Hospitality, Centro Properties Group Ltd., JDN Realty Corp., Mack-Cali
Realty Corp., Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc., The Pebble Beach
Co., and Town & Country Trust, among others.
Altman is a member of the board of Terra Income Fund VI, the New York
Hospitality Council, the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts,
the Urban Land Institute, and the International Council of Shopping Centers. He
is a frequent speaker at real estate and lodging conferences.
Altman earned a bachelor’s degree with honors and an MBA with highest honors
from Washington University in St. Louis.
