Mr. Ryan is a Managing Director in Houlihan Lokey’s Capital Markets Group. His primary responsibilities include working with the firm’s clients to raise senior and junior capital to support refinancings, leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, growth capital, restructurings, and acquisitions. Mr. Ryan is based in the Los Angeles office.
Mr. Ryan has been involved with companies across multiple industries, and his completed transactions include the cross-border management buyout of a major U.S. homebuilder, the first leveraged ESOP completed with an HMO, the recapitalization of a major West Coast–based nursing home operator, the sale of a leading off-airport parking operator, and the buyside financing of a major ethnic telecommunications operator by a private equity client. With over 25 years of experience in the financial services sector, he has been involved in the raising or placing of over $5 billion in capital both as a principal and an advisor for companies ranging in size from virtual startups to the Fortune 500, and he enjoys relationships with the senior executives of many of the nation’s leading financial institutions.
Before joining Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Ryan served in senior management capacities at both Sanwa Bank and Sumitomo Bank. His experience includes responsibilities as a regional manager for Bank of New York’s Los Angeles and Dallas offices, with oversight for domestic lending and international activities. He began his career in the corporate banking group of Chemical Bank in New York.
Mr. Ryan is a frequent speaker on the state of the capital markets and also serves on the Board of Directors of Americas United Bank, a California-based community bank. Mr. Ryan earned his B.A. from Stanford University.
