New Hire Training Program

Our training program offers an introduction to the firm and an opportunity to meet other Financial Analysts and Houlihan Lokey professionals. In addition to various technical topics that will prepare you to handle your job responsibilities, we will review the goals, milestones and expectations of the Financial Analyst Program.

Assignment of Mentors

We recognize that mentoring is key to the future success of our Financial Analysts. Following an introduction to our professionals, you will choose a mentor who will assist you throughout the program.

Mentor Meetings

Your first mentor meeting will take place during the first three months of your employment, and you should plan to meet with your mentor at least quarterly.

Ongoing Training

Periodically we will hold tailored training sessions to supplement your initial and on-the-job training. Topics might include advanced modeling, comparable company analyses, writing skills, and tax and legal issues.

Firm Events

Firm events can be a great opportunity to meet professionals from other groups and learn about new areas. We encourage our Financial Analysts to spend time with their colleagues outside of the business setting.

Midyear Performance Review

After your first six months as a Financial Analyst, you will receive an informal midyear performance review from your supervisor to help identify your strengths and identify areas for improvement.

Year-End Performance Review

Our Financial Analysts are reviewed formally each July and are eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance. After soliciting feedback from those who have worked with you over the prior 12 months, your Professional Development Coordinator will communicate the strengths that have been identified based on your performance as well as areas for future development.

Second Year — focusing on complex financial analysis, joining client meetings, coordinating transaction processes

Mentor Meetings

An ongoing dialogue with your mentor is important as you work toward your short-term goals and begin to formulate your long-term goals.

Ongoing Training

We will continue to supplement your training with specific topics relevant to your job responsibilities.

Firm Events

A diverse group of professionals participates in firm events, offering valuable interaction that cannot be duplicated at the office.

Midyear Performance Review

You will meet informally with your Professional Development Coordinator, who will provide feedback on your performance. We will also take the time to ascertain your interest in exploring the possibility of a third year with the program.

Year-End Performance Review

Part of the review discussion at the end of the second year will be tailored depending on whether you are leaving for graduate school or another employment opportunity, or if you are spending a third year in the program. If you are working toward a promotion to Associate you would need to spend another year as a Financial Analyst. Even if you are not on a path to promotion at this point, we may still invite you to spend a third year as a Financial Analyst as long as you have performed at a sufficiently high level. A third year could include relocation to a new office or group. If you choose to leave the firm after two years, we will encourage you to join our Alumni Network.

Third Year — managing less experienced Financial Analysts, writing client offering materials, assisting on client presentations, joining client meetings
