Mr. Sparks is a Senior Vice President in Houlihan Lokey’s Transaction Advisory Services practice, specializing in M&A tax services. He is a transactional attorney with extensive experience in federal and international tax matters, including cross-border transactions, tax planning, and structuring for investment funds as well as public and private corporate clients. Mr. Sparks has assisted numerous investment partnerships, such as hedge funds, private equity funds, and venture capital partnerships, in addressing the economic and tax implications related to the investments and allocations relevant to their particular situations. He is based in the firm’s Dallas office.

Prior to joining Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Sparks worked at a major accounting firm, law firms, and a Fortune 500 company. In these positions, he advised on inbound and outbound transactions and global tax planning, structuring, and optimization. In these roles, his clients have ranged from Fortune 50 financial institutions to startup investment partnerships, and all manner of financial institutions in between, as well as numerous companies across multiple industries due to the investment company structure. He has reviewed and opined on issues such as substantial economic effect and debt-versus-equity opinions.

Mr. Sparks holds a B.B.A. from the University of Texas at Arlington, a J.D. from the Fordham University School of Law, and an LL.M. from the New York University School of Law.
